Enhancing Cybersecurity Workflows: 65% Faster Task Completion
This project involves creating an efficient admin panel for a cybersecurity CTF platform. The redesign streamlined challenge management, user activity tracking, and scoring systems, improving workflow efficiency and boosting platform performance.
Overview:
Backdoor is a CTF hosting platform allowing CTF players to hone their skills by practicing CTF challenges. The platform had been missing an administrative assistance for a long time. It fell upon the team of SDSLabs to ideate, design and implement a user-friendly and hassle-free solution.
Details:
CTF (Capture-the-flag) challenges are a way for cybersecurity enthusiasts (fondly called as "hackers") to hone their skills. Backdoor is a legacy project by SDSLabs, IITR, which is a CTF hosting platform. Before the implementation of this solution, the platform witnessed no effective and streamlined way of managing the platform, i.e. an admin panel.
The main purposes for the admin panel included :
1. Managing CTF challenges - Creating, managing and deleting challenges
2. Managing players - Banning unfavorable players, managing player data, individual player profiles
3. Notifying players - Notifying players about new challenges, new and upcoming events, challenges being taken down, etc.
Conclusion:
The final product witnessed a reduction of almost 65% in admins' task completion processes.
